Gas Station

I was walking around Worcester at about 10 p.m.  I was quickly amazed with how quiet the downtown area was at this time.  During the day I would never be able to photograph this gas station without a constant flow of cars and trucks coming and leaving.  I was moved by the stillness of the bottom level in comparison to the movement of vehicles on the highway overhead.

City Lines

This road caught my attention because of the depth and the symmetry.  There are so many lines.  The buildings lining the hill, the flag, and the sign are the vertical lines, and they are connected by the lower and upper cross walk, which are some of the horizontal lines.  I was glad I had a wide angle because I caught my eye looking up and down, close and far, all at the same time.

Trees

I took this picture when I was in Estonia.  We went to go visit an old historic castle.  The reflections of the trees are in the mote of the castle.  I was more interested in the reflection of the trees in the water than in the castle itself.

City Reflections

As I was walking around in downtown Worcester I wanted to take a picture that reflected city life.  Not to make a a pun, but I thought what better way to express the city feeling, then to reflect buildings in buildings. Through reflections you are able to see both sides of building lined streets in one picture.

Winter Sunset

I had just spent several hours in the car driving from Connecticut to Massachusetts, to pick up a friend at Logan airport, and back again.  I was exhausted from all the traffic, and was so relieved to finally turn on to my street.  Just as I came around the bend I saw this beautiful sunset. Despite the drowsiness, and the warmth of my car, I ventured out into the cold.  I needed a picture of this.  The sun and its rays skipped across the ice covered rocks.  I was in love with the contradictory elements.
